At Bodegas Comenge, we understand wine as a way to connect with the land and with people.
Since our beginnings in 1999, in Curiel de Duero, we have worked with one clear idea:
More than 80 hectares certified organic, cultivated with respect for natural balance. At Bodegas Comenge, we promote a living environment, allowing native vegetation to form part of the vineyard’s balance and avoiding herbicides and insecticides in cultivation.
This way of working gives rise to healthy grapes that honestly reflect the character of each plot.
The harvest is carried out by hand, carefully selecting each cluster. It is a process that requires time and attention, but allows us to preserve quality from the very origin.
The soil is not an inert support; it is part of the wine. That is why it is so important to keep it healthy and alive, completely eliminating the use of pesticides and mineral fertilisers, while maintaining the natural ground cover formed by native vegetation to improve its structure and fertility.
At Comenge, innovation is born from curiosity and respect. It is not about changing the wine, but about understanding it better.
For more than 25 years, we have collaborated with research centres to deepen our knowledge of the vineyard and the winemaking process. This work has allowed us to develop our own practices, which today form part of our identity.
One of the most important milestones has been the selection of native yeasts from our own vineyards. Thanks to them, each wine expresses itself more faithfully, respecting the personality of each vintage and each plot.
Over time, we have worked on different lines of research that help us improve without losing our origin.
Today, we continue to move forward with projects that integrate technology and viticulture, exploring tools such as artificial intelligence and agrivoltaics to adapt to the challenges of the future without losing our essence.
To respect the character of each vineyard.
To understand what each plot needs.
To maintain the balance of the wine.
To keep learning from the process.
Our commitment to sustainability is not only a way of working, but also a responsibility towards what is to come.
We continue researching how to maintain the balance of the vineyard in the context of climate change, how to optimise natural resources, and how to keep making wines that respect their origin.
Caring for the land also means caring for the people who share it. Only through this respect can we continue creating wines that accompany moments worth living.
